1.  Parents and gifted education advocates worry that until teachers have a stronger understanding of the Common Core, gifted learners may not receive the education they need to stay engaged and challenged.

2.  130 Catholic scholars have written to U.S. Catholic bishops denouncing the Common Core as doing “a great disservice to Catholic education” and urging them to ignore the standards or, where already adopted, give them up.

3.  Florida has withdrawn from PARCC’s online Common Core assessments; Oklahoma and Georgia remain loosely connected to the standards but will not participate in the tests.

4.  In at least 17 states, parents kept their children out of school on November 18 to protest the Common Core State Standards, what they see as federal overreach, and the pressure the government placed on states to adopt them in the first place via the Race to the Top grant competition.
