1) 8 states have already adopted the Next Generation Science Standards.

2) 35 states and D.C. require student achievement to be a significant or most important factor in teacher evaluation. 44 states require classroom observations be added, too, and 19 states and D.C. require that evaluation results be used to inform/shape professional development.

3) On the international TIMSS, students in 36 states outperformed the international average in math.

4) According to the NAEP, the nation’s report card, just 42% of 4th graders and 35% of 8th graders scored at or above proficient in math; 35% of 4th graders and 36% of 8th graders did so in reading.
