1) About 4% of public school teachers report having been attacked physically during the 2007-08 school year, according to the U.S. Department of Education. 71% were threatened with injury by a student.

2) According to a 2011 American Psychological Association survey, 80% of teachers reported being intimidated, harassed, assaulted or otherwise victimized at least once during the previous year.

3) Only 1bout 12% of kids walk or bike to school; about 33% of kids are overweight or obese.

4) More than 800,000 international students–almost 50% of them from China, India, and Korea–were enrolled in a U.S. college/university last year, a 7.2% increase over the previous year, thus pumping more than $24 billion into the economy.
